Wyoming County Man Killed, Driver Airlifted In New Jersey Crash: Troopers

A northeast Pennsylvania man was dead and another man was airlifted after a head-on crash on the Jersey Shore, officials said.

Thomas Grau, 55, of Falls, PA, died in the crash in Dennis Township on Tuesday, Oct. 15, a New Jersey State Police spokesperson said. Troopers responded to the scene on Route 47 South just south of Tyler Road near milepost 18.8. at around 12:28 p.m.

Investigators said Grau was driving north in a Toyota Prius when he crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Nissan Pathfinder. Grau was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, a 74-year-old man, suffered serious injuries. Inspira paramedics brought him to Woodbine Municipal Airport and he was taken by helicopter to a hospital, the Dennis Volunteer Fire Company said in a Facebook post.

The crash closed Route 47 between Tyler and Petersburg roads for about three hours. The New Jersey Department of Transportation, Middle Township fire police, and AtlantiCare paramedics also responded to the scene.

Troopers said the crash remained under investigation.
